Grief & Loss
-
While grief is a natural emotional response to the loss of a loved one, at the same time, such loss is perhaps one of the most painful and difficult human experiences to contend with. Grief often comes in waves and thus can be difficult to navigate. The grieving process can feel isolating and may become debilitating, whether it be related to the death of a family member or friend, the passing of a pet, the end of a romantic relationship, or the consequences of a serious illness.

Our providers are mindful that grief affects everyone differently and that individuals grieve at different times. In addition to providing therapeutic modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), our therapists make use of the stages of grief - denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. We find it worth noting that the stages of grief are not linear and that there is no “right” way to grieve.
