Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), as well as other types of trauma and stressor-related disorders, are marked by psychological distress and behavioral changes following a traumatic or stressful experience. Symptoms of PTSD can emerge after either experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event, such as threatened death, abuse, serious injury or accident, combat, or a natural disaster.

  • Our clinicians treat symptoms of PTSD with the goals of reducing symptomatology, increasing knowledge and use of skills to cope, and restoring self-esteem. Through use of short- and long-term psychotherapy, such as Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure (PE), we see individuals who did not think they could get their lives back leading full and fulfilling lives.
