Substance Use

  • ​​Problematic substance use may be characterized as a recurrent and intense urge to use substances, such as alcohol or tobacco, despite any aversive consequences that have been associated with past use. Individuals struggling with significant substance use may report a desire to cut down or regulate their use, though in many cases, their efforts have been unsuccessful.

  • Our treatment team individualizes treatment related to problematic substance use, with consideration of what is maintaining the substance use and degree of one’s motivation for change.
